Something Just for Me

It's been quite a while since I've sat down to crochet something for myself. I came across the Five Spice Hat pattern in the Interweave Crochet magazine. I loved the textured look of the slip stitch, so I decided to pick up some bulky weight yarn and work one up before the snow comes. The first hat that I made came out way too small, but was perfect for our little 18 month old neighbor. The second hat I made fits just right. I do wish it were a bit longer/deeper; as is, it only covers the very tips of my ears, so I may not be the most warm winter hat. Nevertheless, I am pleased with the way it turned out.

  1. Nice! But I just can't help but say what the hell are you doing buying bulky yarn when I spin it!!!!!!!! I could have shipped it to you, and you would have had it in a day. Shame on you :)

  2. Well, the first one I made was with your yarn. It turned out too small. I think it had more to do with my tension than your yarn. I will try again. I really do like the hat and wouldn't mind another in a different color, plus this time I'd add a couple of rows in to make it a bit longer.
